When you are involved in a personal injury case, you must realize that everything you do or say can be held against you by the opposing counsel. It is the job of the opposing attorney to find reason to deny your claim for compensation. With this in mind, there are a few things that everyone should consider to prevent sabotaging their personal injury case.
Always Go To Your Medical Appointments and Follow Doctor’s Orders
Missing doctor appointments or not following through with a treatment plan is one of the best ways to sabotage your case. The opposing attorney will view missed appointments or failure to follow treatment plans as a sign that you do not need medical care or that you are unwilling to allow yourself to recover from your injury so you can seek a claim. It is imperative that you always follow doctor’s orders. If you have a concern about the treatment plan, speak to an attorney about a second opinion. Do not stop going to the doctor.
Everything You Post On Social Media Is Being Watched
Everything that you post on social media can be used against you. Pictures of you having a great time and laughing with friends translate to an opposing attorney that you are not suffering from your injuries. Comments about the accident, especially negative ones about the person or business that caused your injury translates into a hostile personality out for revenge. Any information that you post about the injury, the treatments, your conversations with your attorneys or your doctors can be twisted and held against you. Refrain from posting on social media until your case is settled.
